Douglas W Boyce, born in Binghamton, NY to Doris (Sunny) and Charles Boyce, January 15, 1930 died peacefully in Rockledge, FL on February 25, 2017.
He joined the United States Army in 1951, served as a paratrooper and medic with the 101 Airborne Division. After receiving an honorable discharge as Master Sergeant in 1953, he began work with IBM in New York City. He continued working for the company in Connecticut, while married to Joan M Boyce with whom he had two children, Warren D and Sari Lee. He was transferred to San Jose, CA, where he met and married Joanne Galetto, and began work with Control Data Corp in Eagan, Minn.. After returning to San Jose in 1985, he began his retirement, later moving to Ridgemark Golf and Country Club in Hollister, CA. Before their final move to Merritt Island, FL, in 2015, they lived in Lincoln, CA for two years.
As an avid collector of Military Memorabilia , which he related began when he was eight years old, he became widely known as an expert in research on the Mexican War with the United States and WWll. He was a long time member of the Orders and Medals Society of the United States ( OMSA) , where he served for a term as their President.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Boyce, two children, Warren and Sari, grandson Phillip Costarella, four step-children and three step-grandchildren , two sisters; Gail Hilton and sons, Sherry and Owen Hakes and family, and many friends.
Burial will be in San Joaqiun Military cemetery, Santa Nella, CA, on April 17, 2017 at 1 P.M.
