Edward William Wooddell, age 79, of Viera Florida, died Monday, October 30th, 2017, in Viera Hospital after a short illness. He was born on September 22nd, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Penn., to parents William and Adeline Wooddell. He received a BSME from the University of Pittsburgh in 1960, a Masters in Political Science from Auburn University in 1969, and a second Masters in Public Administration from the University of Virginia in 1981. He worked as a civil servant in the USAF Foreign Technology Division from 1961 to 1987. He then worked for the Central Intelligence Agency from 1987 to 1993. He was awarded the National Intelligence Medal of Achievement for his service during the first Iraq War in November of 1993. he taught political science at several colleges and universities after retirement. He is also the author of two books: “At Last They Are Here” and “The Godfather Strike”. He was very active in his church, Suntree United Methodist. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Shirley, his two sons Victor (Michelle) and David, his stepson Bill (Lesia), three grandchildren, Aleksey, Sasha and Cody, and one greatgrandchild, Stella. He will be remembered as a loving man, devoted to his family, a true American, and a patriot.
