Alejandrina Gonzalez 92 (known as “Aleja”), of Rockledge, passed away on February 5, 2019 surrounded by her caring daughters. Our beloved mother was born on May 3, 1926 in Maunabo, Puerto Rico and immigrated to New York City at the age of 19.
Aleja was married to the late Angel Gonzalez (deceased June 27, 2018) who both resided in New York City and Brooklyn, New York before retiring to Maunabo, Puerto Rico. In October 2002 they returned to the mainland and settled in Rockledge, Florida.
Aleja is survived by five children: Sally, Susan, Helene, Gloria and Olga. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Kaleb, Kyle, Jilliane, Joelle, Linda, Doris, Ivette, Janette, Eliza, Brenda, Eric, Stephanie, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and eight great great-grandchildren.
Our beloved Aleja was a strong, God-fearing woman who dedicated her life to raising her family with compassion, sacrificial and unconditional love. She excelled in her culinary skills and everyone who tasted her meals craved for more of her Puerto Rican dishes. There was always more than enough food to go around. We will all miss her tremendously.
The family will receive friends Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Atlantic Mortuary from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at which time funeral services will follow. Interment will be at Florida Memorial Gardens.
