Evelyn M Tribout

March 28, 1922 ~ July 2, 2019 (age 97)


ROCKLEDGE – Evelyn M. Tribout, wife of Lester R. Tribout, passed away July 2, 2019, she was 97 years old. Born March 28, 1922 to Henry J. and Hazel Leininger in Kingston, New York, both deceased. Living relatives are a brother, Henry Leininger and wife Joan living in Crossville Tenn. And a nephew, Wayne Leininger and wife Nann living in Weaverville, N.C. She also has a neice Linda Tabakman living in Boynton Beach, FL.

After graduation she move to New York, became a professional secretary for an Advertising Company in N.Y. While there she married and had a daughter, Jane Blazek and her daughter, now living in Boynton Beach, FL.

Husband Les has a large family in Illinois and a sister Lana Greene of Suntree and a daughter, Donna married to Marc Buist in Suntree and daughter Angela in Washington State married to RusselTewksbury.

She later moved to Queens, N.Y. and became a professional secretary where she met and married Seymore Lapkin who came to Florida to work on the Gemini Space Program at KSC in 1962. She was employed by Radiation Corp. for a few years and then moved to secretary position for the CEO at Fla. Power & Light in Cocoa Fl. where she retired from in 1994.

Her husband and Les worked at the Cape together and they became close friends with Les and wife Marijane and spent launch parties, boating activities on Les’s forty foot Chris Craft Fly Bridge Cruiser, Cruising the Islands, etc. In 1995 Marijane passed away and in 1997 Seymore passed away and Les and Ev became traveling buddies and married in 1999.

Les was active in the Cocoa Beach Power Squadron, an organization dedicated to teaching “Safe Boating through Education”. Les became Commander of Cocoa Beach Squadron and then District 23 Commander (from Georgia/Fla. Line north to Sebastian Inlet. South and I75 corridor East to Ocean. While Commander they traveled through out the USA to conventions and Seminars.

Evelyn loved to Cruise on large liners and they took 15 cruises including the Florida inaugural trip on the QE2 and another on later. She said “Gee this is like a 5 star floating hotel” and it is! She will be missed by all her loved ones!
