Katlyn Marie Leger, age 25, passed away in West Melbourne, Florida on July 9, 2018.
Katlyn was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 8, 1993. At the age of 7, her and her family moved to Belvidere, New Jersey. Here, Katlyn graduated from Belvidere High School in 2011 and shortly after moved to Melbourne, Florida, where she was attending Eastern Florida State College and was aspiring to attend the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, Florida.
Katlyn Leger was an incredibly bright and loving young woman. She spent her entire life fascinated by plants and animals, trying to protect and love them. She was a beam of energy and fun wherever she went and could make friends with anyone.
Katlyn is survived by her mother Marijo Lopes Leger, and her partner Edward Brunner; her father David Leger; her brother Dominic Leger; and on her mother’s side: her Aunt Rosalia Lopes Kimak of Allentown, Pennsylvania, her husband Benjamin, and their daughters Harper and Emmelia; her Uncle Leonard Lopes of Seaford, Virginia, his wife Megan, and their children Santino, Catherine, Mary, and Carmelo; her Aunt Julie Lopes Elgebali of Oakland, California, her husband Morgan; and her grandparents Bernard and Rosalie Lopes of Belvidere, New Jersey. On her father's side: her aunt Lori Leger Labar of Belvidere, New Jersey, her husband Joshua Labar, and their daughter Ashleigh Labar; her Uncle Michael Leger of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his wife Windey, and their children Talia and Stephen Leger; and her Grandfather Lorenzo Leger of Sapello, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Michele Leger of Sapello, New Mexico.
She is also remembered by countless extended family and friends from across New Jersey, Florida, and New Mexico.
Memorial dedications may be made in Katlyn’s name to The Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, Florida.
Funeral Services are being handled by Atlantic Mortuary & Cremation. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
