On Monday, 8 April 2019, Timothy Andrew Miller, loving husband and father of three daughters, passed away. Most would say Tim fought hard and lost his battle against cancer.  Tim never complained that it was a battle so how can this be a defeat? Everyone dies someday, but not everyone fully lives. Tim found a way to get along with cancer the past 4 years and lived life to the fullest.

Tim was born at home in Edmeston, New York.  After high school, Tim joined the United States Army and served in Sinop, Türkiye. While in Sinop, Tim played soccer and on 22 June 1986, during a pickup game, he met the love of his life Nazan.  Tim and Nazan socialized with a close group of friends playing soccer, going to the beach, having picnics, hanging out by the pool, playing chess and card games while listening to music until late hours of the night.  At the end of that summer, Nazan returned to Istanbul for school but she and Tim kept in touch. A good friendship turned into strong love and on 12 August 1990, they became husband and wife in Sinop, Türkiye.  Tim finished his career and retired from the Army.

Tim had many hobbies including building things, fixing things, and anything to do with trains.  He was an avid collector of train memorabilia.  He also loved the Galatasaray football club; a rival club to Nazan’s favorite Fenerbahçe. Whenever these two clubs met on the field, it was a spirited party in the Miller household.

More than anything else, he loved his family. Tim and Nazan became joyous parents to daughters Melia, Jesse, and Ece.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, Charles Robert Miller, and brother Allen Robert Miller. Tim is survived by his wife Nazan, three daughters Melia Aleyna Miller, Jesse Sila Miller, and Samantha Ece Miller, his mother, Mary Eugenia Parker, and sister Ruth Anne Miller Hill.

A military funeral service will be held on Friday, 12 April 2019 at 11:00am at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 U.S. 1 North, Mims, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html)
