It is with our deepest sorrows to announce the passing of Daniel Timothy Moritz, of Evanston, IL, on February 4th at 5:03am.

It was sudden and unexpected, causing overwhelming emotions for his family. He was surrounded by them when the time came, and he is at peace now. Not only was Danny an amazing husband and father, but also an incredible papa, brother, son and friend. For those who knew him his whole life, just in passing or somewhere in-between, he can be described as the most compassionate, caring, hardworking, humorous, kindest soul, who had the most infectious free spirit. He was quick to love, constantly wore his heart on his sleeve and always had the biggest smile on his face. He would drop everything to help someone and never knew a stranger.

Danny and his wife had recently relocated from Lake Zurich, IL to Space Coast in Florida to follow his dream of working at Blue Origin. He was so passionate about being part of the Blue Origin team, being able to build rockets and see them launch into space.

In the 62 years of his life, he was part of an amazing 35-year marriage, had three daughters he was so proud of and was able to watch his family continue to grow. Some of the best memories his family has of him are times that include his never-ending humor that would cause himself to have loud belly laughs, his unexpected tears that would make everyone around him become emotional with pride, his ability to make you into the best version of yourself and the overflowing amount of love he would give no matter the situation. His family finds some peace in knowing that his legacy lives on through the memories held in not only their own hearts, but the thousands of others that were blessed to have met him.

We may never understand why such a man was taken so soon, but we do know that God has gained an irreplaceable angel without compare. It is never a goodbye, but a see you later. Until we meet again Danny, Dad, Daddy, Poppy, and Papa, we love you.
