Ruth Marie Whitaker McPhillips, 81, of Merritt Island, FL., born Sunday April 30, 1939 at Oakville, IA, went to her forever home in Heaven on Friday May 01, 2020 at Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit, Rockledge FL. Ruth attended college at Kansas City Bible College in Missouri. She met her first husband and father of her three children, Eugene Irvin Birt of Pritchett, CO while attending there in 1961. They pastored their first church in Eckley, CO in 1962. She faithfully served the ministry alongside until their divorce in 1981. She then moved back to Iowa for a short time before moving to Florida. She married two more times before marrying her late husband, Francis McPhillips, of Merritt Island, FL. Ruth loved to bake cookies, cakes, and pies. Her family’s favorite was her Texas Sheet Cake. She spent much of her time collecting recipes from all over the world. She is preceded in death by her mother Vera Pearl Bishop Whitaker, her father Levi William Whitaker, and late husband Francis McPhillips. She is survived by her brother, Ralph Whitaker (Bronwen), of Oakville, IA., a son, Glen Birt (Rhonda), of Grand Junction, CO, a son, Dennis Birt (Jose) of Merritt Island, FL., and daughter, April Madden (Nicole), of Oldsmar, FL. Grand children are Aaron Boshers (Sharese) of Dunedin, FL., Alicia Skrtich of Grand Junction, CO., and Levi Birt (Kylie) of Grand Junction CO., four great-grandchildren, three step children, several step grandchildren. Also three niecesTonya Lessen (Rob), of Green Valley, Illinois, Cindy Stellern (Rick), of Wapello, IA, Shawna Lopez (Juan), of Paradise, CA., five great nephews, two great nieces AND  her beloved Yorkie, Lulu. Cremation is being handled by Atlantic Mortuary & Cremation Service, Rockledge, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit, 5425 S. US 1 Rockledge, FL
